The most recent business that we have started is TanqBay Management. We started TanqBay Management from our clients and friends reaching out to us on how to better manage their programmers and/or workforce.
Within all of the TanqBay businesses we operate very efficiently and very streamlined. Early on when we were building our businesses we hired as many people as we could in order to get the work done. You could say that we hired with the idea of “Many Hands Make Light Work.” All I can say is that we were wrong about doing things this way. What happened was that we ended up babysitting employees to make sure they were doing what they were supposed to. Not only did our business suffer because of this however so did our clients. So what we did is we eliminated the need to have so many employees.
Let us explain a little more. For all of you that are reading this that are in the software development world you will know exactly what I am talking about. If you are not in the software development world don’t worry you will still understand!
When we first started building the business we used what is called in the software development world a “Waterfall Technique.” The biggest problem with the waterfall technique is that it always require duplicate or repeat work. There was no real streamlined checks and balances type system and if there was an error or some issue it got “returned” to the previous person to get it fixed. This was horrible and terribly expensive and since everyone here at TanqBay is a type A personality it drove us crazy!
So several years ago we ran across the Agile or Scrum methodology. When we first read the concepts behind the Agile/Scrum Methodology we were blown away. The definition of Scrum is Scrum (n): A framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value.
This just clicked with us and we instantly realized how we could add this in our businesses, cut costs, and increase profits. This was a no brainer. So we immediately adopted Scrum in our business to start and then once we had experience with Scrum we started to implement Scrum into the businesses of our clients. Now it did take some time in order to get everything implemented, however once we did the rewards have been extremely beneficial for us as well as our clients.
Now one thing that we have found is that there are a lot of businesses out there that have a need or a want for a Scrum Master or Product Owner however they don’t want to have the Scrum Master or Product Owner on staff full time. This presents a very unique scenario for businesses that are trying to implement the Scrum Methodology. How can they implement the Scrum Methodology yet not have to pay the for someone to be on staff all of the time?
This is where we come in! We have certified Scrum Master’s that can come in and help implement Scrum into your business. You can have one of our Scrum Master’s come in and implement Scrum into your business for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, or for any duration that you feel necessary.
Now obviously we will have to do this with a remote/virtual setting however we can explain to you how the tools we use in order to make sure that your projects run at the highest efficiency possible while still producing quality products.
